Google is keeping its AI momentum going—and this time, Spanish speakers are getting a front-row seat. The company announced on Tuesday that AI Mode, its conversational, AI-powered search experience, is officially rolling out in Spanish. That means millions of users can now interact with Google in a much more natural way: asking questions in plain language, carrying on back-and-forth chats, uploading images, and even digging deeper into tricky or layered topics without feeling like they’re “Googling” in the old-school sense.
This rollout builds on Google’s August expansion, when AI Mode went global, launching in over 180 countries after being limited to the U.S., U.K., and India. During that update, Google gave its AI Ultra subscribers new perks like booking restaurant reservations directly in AI Mode. And the roadmap doesn’t stop there—Google hinted that support for other bookings, like events and appointments, is in the pipeline.
Of course, Google isn’t just updating Search—it’s sprinkling AI upgrades across its entire ecosystem. On the same day as the Spanish announcement, Google revealed two more updates: conversational photo editing for all U.S. Android users and the global expansion of Google AI Plus, its more affordable subscription tier. Originally launched in Indonesia, AI Plus is now available in 40 new countries, placing it in direct competition with OpenAI’s recently launched ChatGPT Go plan.
For context, ChatGPT Go is a mid-tier option that offers higher usage limits than the free version and better memory for personalized responses, but at a lower cost than the premium $20 ChatGPT Plus plan. Clearly, both giants are racing to capture users who want advanced AI features without breaking the bank.
It’s also worth clarifying something many users mix up: Google’s AI Mode versus AI Overviews. AI Mode is a dedicated, chat-like experience where you interact with Gemini AI in real time. AI Overviews, meanwhile, are those quick AI-generated summaries you see at the top of regular search results. Think of AI Overviews as a shortcut—and AI Mode as the full conversation.
With AI Mode now available in Spanish, plus earlier support for languages like Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese, Google is signaling one thing loud and clear: conversational search is becoming the new normal.
