Meta is rolling out an AI assistant for Facebook Dating, aiming to make matches more personalized and reduce the fatigue of endless swiping.
The chatbot can help users refine their profiles or search for specific matches — for example, someone might ask it to “find a Brooklyn girl in tech.” Another new feature, called Meet Cute, gives users a weekly surprise match chosen by Meta’s algorithm.
Meta says interest in Facebook Dating is growing among younger users, with a 10% year-over-year increase in matches for adults aged 18–29 and hundreds of thousands of new profiles created monthly in that group. Still, the platform remains far smaller than rivals like Tinder (50 million daily active users) and Hinge (10 million daily active users).
AI tools are already common across the dating app industry. Startups like Sitch use them to stand out, while Match Group — the parent company of Tinder, Hinge, and OKCupid — has invested over $20 million in AI, including a partnership with OpenAI. That investment has led to new features like Tinder’s AI photo selector, which scans a camera roll to pick the best profile pictures, and Hinge’s AI tool that helps users polish their answers to profile prompts.
