Google just dropped a surprise one day early — NotebookLM is now officially available on Android and iOS. Yep, the AI-powered note-taking and research assistant that’s been desktop-only since its debut in 2023 is finally mobile, just in time for Google I/O 2025.
NotebookLM isn’t your average notes app. It’s designed to help you break down and digest complex information with ease. Whether you’re deep into a research paper or trying to wrap your head around dense PDFs, NotebookLM offers smart summaries and lets you ask questions directly about the materials you’ve uploaded — think of it as having a personal AI research assistant in your pocket.
But the real flex? Audio Overviews. These are AI-generated podcasts crafted from your uploaded materials, complete with offline support and background playback. It’s basically turning your reading list into a custom podcast playlist. So you can “read” while driving, cooking, or doomscrolling.
The app also makes it easy to organize your thoughts. You can create and manage notebooks on the fly, and even add new sources straight from your phone — tap the share button on any website, YouTube video, or PDF, and send it to NotebookLM.
Bonus: It respects your phone’s vibe — whether you’re team light mode or dark mode, the app adjusts automatically based on your device settings.
And since this launch lands right before Google’s big I/O keynote, don’t be surprised if we hear even more juicy updates about NotebookLM tomorrow.
